Alexander de Raymond Stennett Redmond was born in Gateshead, Durham on 18 Feb 1887 and entered France on 19 Dec 1915, serving with the 8th Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on 5 Jan 1915 and appointed Lieutenant on 10 Sep 1916, becoming Staff Captain attached to Headquarter Units on 18 Apr 1919, relinquishing his commission on completion of service on 30 Jan 1920, granted the rank of Captain.
