Description

Industry moved into the West Drayton area resulting in the building of factories, perhaps the most important being the Anglo-Swiss Screw Co.

In 1929 the Urban District of Yiewsley & West Drayton was formed and this further cemented the bringing together of Yiewsley and West Drayton. The outbreak of the Second World War put a hold on the development of the area with all energies diverted to the war effort and most able bodied men were called up for military service.

1940 saw the first bombs fall in the area damaging or destroying a number of buildings including a tobacconists shop on Swan Road.
