Description

Thomas Frederick Cookson was the son of Frederick and Ada Cookson and stepson of Annie Cookson of Lytham St. Annes, Lancashire.

On 24 Feb 1941, U-97 fired two torpedoes at convoy OB-289, southwest of the Farow Islands, sinking Jonathan Holt and Mansepool.

Master William Stephenson, 38 crew members, 2 gunners and 10 passengers were killed, including Cookson who is remembered on the Tower Hill Memorial.
