** NEW ** Sword 1: British 1896 Pattern Edward VII heavy cavalry officer's sword by Wilkinson with patent solid hilt with deluxe grip, pierced honeysuckle guard, decoratively blade etched with Edwardian cipher and 13th Hussars insignia and initialled 'A.M.S.' for Arthur Meyer Sassoon, spine numbered 42137, corresponding to A.M. Sassoon, with Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall address, housed in white metal scabbard and brown leather outer sleeve case also initialled 'A.M.S.' with further field service scabbard.

Sword 2: British 1912 Pattern George V cavalry officer's sword by Wilkinson with deluxe skin grip and honeysuckle guard, decoratively etched blade with George V cipher and 13th Hussars insignia and initialled 'A.M.S.', spine numbered 44242, corresponding to A.M. Sassoon, with Wilkinson Pall Mall details, housed in white metal scabbard and brown leather outer sleeve initialled 'A.M.S.' and further field service scabbard.

Arthur Meyer Sassoon was born in Walton-on- Thames, Surrey on 29 May 1889, the son of Joseph and Louise Sassoon of Ashley Park, Walton-on-Thames, sharing the same grandfather (Sassoon David Sassoon) with first cousin and war poet Siegfried Sassoon.

Arthur trained at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Appointed 2nd Lieutenant with the 13th Hussars on 27 Jan 1909, Sassoon entered France as Lieutenant on 14 Dec 1914, attached to the Machine Gun Cavalry, serving in France and Mesopotamia and promoted to the rank of Captain in 1918, exchanged to Major with the 9th Lancers in 1921 and entitled to the 1914-15 Star trio of medals with General Service Medal with Iraq clasp.
