Alfred Charles Collins was born in Ashford, Kent in 1872 and attested with the Buffs on 17 July 1891, posted to India on 27 Jan 1893 until returning to England on 15 Feb 1899, further posted to South Africa and entitled to the Queen's South Africa Medal.
