Description

Henry John Wakelin was born in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire in 1830 and worked as a farmer before enlisting with the 11th Hussars at Kings’ Lynn on 20 Dec 1851, aged 21.

Wakelin is recorded as in hospital between April and June of 1854 and was Killed in Action at Balaklava on 25 October 1854, one of 25 N.C.Os. and men of the 11th Hussars killed in the Charge of the Light Brigade.
