Description

Arthur Gerald Ivo Ayling Goddard entered France with the 3rd Battalion Monmouthshire Regiment in July 1915 as 2nd Lieutenant, transferring to the 2nd/95th Russell's Infantry in India, retiring as a Colonel and returning to his family in the UK with 'a Japanese sword surrendered to one of his Victoria Cross recipient troopers'.
