Distinguished Conduct Medal Gazetted 18 July 1917: "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion in evacuating wounded from a heavily shelled collecting post. His magnificent example greatly contributed to steady the men, who were suffering heavy casualties."
Daniel Booth was born in Kippax, Leeds on 7 Sep 1877 and served with the Royal Marines Medical Unit from 4 Jan 1915, first posted with the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force before joining up with the B.E.F. at the start of 1916 and attached to the Royal Naval Division as a Staff Sergeant, finally demobilised on 22 Feb 1919.
Booth's medal group is housed at the Royal Marines Museum, Portsmouth.
