Description

Charles Morton was born in Glasgow, the son of William and Margaret Morton, of 42 Pollok St., Glasgow; husband of Helen Brackenridge Morton, of 350, Scotland St., Glasgow. and served as a Shoeing-Smith with the 7th (Queen's Own) Hussars during the Boer War, entitling hi to a Queen's South Africa Medal with 5 claasps. He served with the 3rd Hussars during WWI, disembarking on 15 Sep 1914 and with the 1st County of London Yeomanry (Middlesex Duke of Cambridges Hussars) in Palestine when he died on 14 Oct 1918, aged 36. He is buried at the Damascus Commonwealth War Cemetery.
