Description

Henry James Roxberry was born in Clapham, Surrey in 1875 and worked as a Musician, enlisting with the 10th Hussars in York on 9 Sep 1890, aged just 15 years and his rank given as 'Boy', then 'Bandsman' on 7 June 1892 and 'Trumpeter' on 30 Nov 1892, serving in South Africa from 6 Nov 1899 and suffering a Gun Shot Wound to the leg at Heilbron on 20 May 1900, returning home in August of that year, Roxberry joined the Grenadier Guards Band on 31 July 1902, awarded his Long Service & Good Conduct Medal in 1909 and transferring to the Welsh Guards during WWI.
