Ernest Muddle was born in Nalcombe, Sussex in 1879 and lived in Bimringham.
Enlisted with the 1st Dragoon Guards in 1899, posted to South Africa on 8 Jan 1901 to 14 Nov 1903, placed on the Amry Reserve on 1 Mar 1906, mobilised on 5 Aug 1914, posted to France on 21 Oct 1915 and discharged on termination of period of engagement on 29 Feb 1916.
