Description

Thomas Ashworth was born in Appingstale, York and worked as a Cooper before enlisting with the King's Dragoon's Guards on 25 Dec 1800, initially serving as a Corporal in 9 Troop in Warwick, setting sail for the Continent on 4 Jan 1815 and serving in Captain William Elton's 1 Troop as a Sergeant.

Ashworth is recorded as Missing in Action on 18 June 1815, with the State of the Effects and Credits, or Debts for NCOs, Trumpeters and Privates from 25 Sep to 24 Dec 1815: amount 15 shillings (Missing in Action). The amount of credits of the men returned missing 18th June 1815 is remitted to the Agent Alexander Adair Esq. He is recorded on the Waterloo Peize List as Fifth Class Sergeant Ashworth, Thomas Discharged Dead.
