Description

John Stoneystreet was born in Uttoxeter, Stafford in 1788 and enlisted with the King's Dragoon Guards on 25 Jan 1805, aged 17 years.

Serving in Captain Michael Turner's 8 Troop, Stoneystreet suffered a Gun Shot Wound to the left arm at the Battle of Waterloo and recorded as wounded in Brussels. He was sent to England on 28 Oct 1815 and admitted to Colchester Hospital.

Stoneystreet was discharged from Captain Ralph Babington's Troop as a result of this wounding on 22 July 1816 at Manchester Barracks aged 17 years. He is recorded on the Distribution and Prize List of the First Regiment of Dragoon Guards for the Prize Money Granted for the Battle of Waterloo and the Capture of Paris in the Year 1815.
