Description

William Jones was born in Liscard near Birkenhead and worked as a Watchmaker before attesting with the 1st King's Dragoon Guards at Liverpool on 29 Oct 1853 aged 19 years, serving in the Crimea.

Jones was Absent Without Leave on 3 June 1855 for a week, Court Martialled, imprisoned and received a punishment of 50 lashes. Also serving in China for 10 months during the 2nd China War, Jones was finally discharged on 2 Jan 1873.
