John Pascoe was born in Trowbridge, Bath, Wiltshire in 1795 and attested with the 40th Foot at Plymouth on 1 Dec 1813, aged 18 years, and served with the 40th Foot at the Battle of Toulouse, then serving in North America for three months before forming part of Captain J. Lowry's Company at the Battle of Waterloo and further entitled to this medal.
Pascoe also served in New South Wales and East India from June 1829 to 31 Oct 1835, completing 27 years and forty-two days total service.
