Frederick William Moore was born on 9 Aug 1862 and baptised at St. James, Westminster, Middlesex, England, becoming a Queen's Cadet at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, commissioned with The King's Shropshire Light Infantry on 25 Aug 1883.
Serving with the 1st Battalion in Egypt, Moore was listed as invalided to England, marrying Gertrude Anne Seymour Guscotte on 27 Feb 1889.
Their son was Montague Shadworth Seymour Moore, V.C. whose medals are housed in the Lord Ashcroft Gallery, Imperial War Museum.
