Description

Henry Oakes was born in Taghmon, Wexford and enlisted with the 36th Regiment at Chester on 2 July 1853 and was recorded as being a 'Prisoner' from 6 to 10 Jan 1856 and recorded as wounded with the 65th Foot, attached 7th Foot 'at the attack on the Redan before Sebastopol on 18 June 1855 in the left thigh severely. This severe wound was recorded in the London Gazette of 9 July 1855.
