Immediate Military Medal Gazetted 13 June 1944:
"During the fighting in the ANZIO beach-head, Sjt. Redborough had given a fine example of devotion to duty. This Signal N.C.O. personally carried the Control 18-Set throughout the attack on 30 June 1944. Despite intense enemy shelling and mortar fire, Sjt. Bedborough never ceased trying to maintain touch with the forward Companies. The maintenance of contact with these Companies was of the greatest help in controlling the attack. For three days and nights after the attack Sjt. Bedborough continually went forward to lay and repair lines to the most advanced positions. It was due to his efforts that Companies were seldom out of touch with Bn. HQ, thus enabling important information to reach Bn. and Bde. HQ as it occurred.
During the attack on BUONRIPOSO Ridge and subsequent days, this Signal NCO repeatedly repaired lines under heavy enemy fire. His coolness and determination were an inspiration to all whom he came into contact and who were shown a fine example of disregard for personal safety."
Nicholas Charles Richard Bedborough was baptised on 3 Aug 1913 Carshalton, All Saints, Surrey, England and was killed in an accident on 25 July 1945 whilst serving with the 1st Battalion K.S.L.I. in Syria and is buried at Beirut War Cemetery.
