WWII ITALIAN MOTHER'S MEDAL

Established on 3 March 1939, this medal was awarded to mothers who bore five children, with a bow added to the ribbon for every subsequent child. Benito Mussolini's ‘Battle for Births‘ campaign was aimed at increasing the Italian population from 40 million in 1927 to 60 million by 1950.
