John McKenzie was recorded as 'Born in the regiment at Gibraltar' and was serving with the 92nd Gordon Highlanders during the Afghanistan Campaign when he was Killed In Action by a gun shot wound to the abdomen at Kandahar on 1 Sep 1880.

McKenzie was one of 11 men of the regiment killed that day.
