King Haakon VII Liberty Medal Gazetted 19 Mar 1948.

John William Turpie was born in London on 9 Mar 1913 and achieved national fame by carrying a message 6000 miles from the Mayor of Westminster to the Mayor of New Westminster, British Columbia when he was 15 years old.

Turpie was appointed 2nd Lieutenant on the General List on 21 Dec 1939 and served at No.2 Depot Royal Army Medical Corps in Mar 1941 and Army Catering Corps from 22 Mar 1941, but with Mar Sub. Lieutenant rank from the General List.
