D.F.M. Gazetted 17 Nov 1944: "Seven sorties to Berlin were among the 30 completed by this N.C.O. on his operational tour. He has at all times shown the highest efficiency in his work which was of the greatest assistance to his Captain and contributed materially to the outstandingly successful tour achieved by the crew. At all times Flight Sergeant Williams has displayed great courage and devotion to duty while his cheerfulness and efficiency both in the air and on the ground have been an inspiration not only to the whole crew, but to the whole squadron."

Clifford Leslie Gethin Williams was born on 27 Nov 1922 and served as aircrew Sergeant with 9 Squadron, R.A.F. before being comissioned Pilot Officer on 12 Mar 1945 and promoted to Flying Officer on 3 Sep 1950.
