Description

Norman Gilles (sometimes 'Gillis') served as a Boy with the 92nd Highlanders until Apr 1809, when he became a Drummer.

Gilles sailed for Portugal in Sep 1810 and served in France and Belgium.

Present at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, Gilles was the Drummer of Captain Ferrier's Company.

Gilles spent several days in solitary confinement in 1816 and 1817 and then served on detachment from the regiment from 24 Apr to 25 Sep 1817. He went on to serve in Jamaica between 1819 and 1820, however he deserted from the Regiment on 1 Oct 1821 and was given up.
