Martin Stokes Bigwood was born in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire in Jun 1894 and lived at Hazy Hill Farm, The Lickey, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire and The Berrow, Barnt Green, Worcestershire. He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant with the 7th Reserve Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment on 21 Sep 1914 and was Mentioned in Despatches and awarded the Military Cross.
