Description

Chester Doughty was born in Suffolk in 1838 and commissioned with the Shropshire Light Infantry in Nov 1855, serving in Cape Colony and Mauritius, transferring as Captain with the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in Aug 1867, joining the Hereford Militia as Adjutant in 1868 until retiring as Major of the 4th K.S.L.I. in 1893, dying in Martlesham, Suffolk in 1908.
