Description

James Waddell was born in Bo'ness, Scotland on 29 July 1893 and lived in Effie Villa, Dundas Street, Bo'ness, working as a fitter and turner.

He enlisted with the 2nd Battalion, Lovat's Scouts on 14 Dec 1914 at Edinburgh, landing in Gallipoli with the 2/2nd Lovat Scouts on 7 Sep 1915, admitted to the Scottish Horse Field Ambulance with diarrhoea on 14 Oct 1915. On 11 July 1916 he joined the 276th (Railway) Coy., Royal Engineers, Ismalia, Egypt, and became a member of The Institute of Machanical Engineers in the 1930s.
