Description

John Spalding was born in Kirkentilloch, Dumbarton, the son of George H. Spalding and disemabarked with the 1/5th (Angus & Dundee) Battalion, Royal Highlanders on 1 Nov 1914. Spalding transferred to 4/5th Battalion, Royal Highlanders and then the 9th Battalion, Royal Highlanders, with a regimental number of 240074. On 16 June 1917, Spalding accidentally drowned and is buried at Huby-St. Leu British Cemetery.
