Arthur Brient was born on 2 Aug 1887 in Camberwll and entered France with the Royal Engineers on 14 Aug 1914. His only son, Eddie Robert Underwood Brient, was born on 14 June 1923 in Brentford and served aboard H.M.S. Argonaut during WWII. His Imperial Service Medal was Gazetted on 20 Sep 1983, as late Senior Technician of the General Post Office, Bedford.
