James Grant, was the son of John Grant of Leith, Edinburgh and served in the North West Frontier with the 1st Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders in 1908 and as a Piper with the 2nd Battalion and 7th Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders during WWI, entering France on 23 Aug 1914, entitling him to a 1914 Star & Bar Trio. 'Pipes of War' records him as wounded in Apr 1915, Aug 1917 and on 12 Oct 1917. He died at home on 8 Mar 1919, aged 37, and is buried at Edinburgh (Seafield) Cemetery.
