Description

Wilfred Morris was born in 1896 in Congleton, Cheshire and worked as a Fruit Salesman, living on Ducie Street, Longsight, Manchester. Enlisting with the 27th Reserve Battalion, Manchester Regiment and was posted with the 22nd (7th City) Battalion, Manchester Regiment on 3 Sep 1915, Morris was promoted to Corporal on 4 Nov 1916, Sergeant on Wounded In Action on 13 May 1917 with a gun shot wound to the left arm and evacuated to Boulogne. He was subsequently promoted to the rank of Company Sergeant Major on 28 Jan 1918 andthe award of his M.M. Gazetted 4 Feb 1918.
