Description

Companion of the Most Exalted Order of the Star of India Gazetted 24 Jan 1896. Colonel George Fletcher Ottley Boughey was born in Saint Michael, Barbados on 23 Jan 1844, the son of Lt. Col. George Fenton Fletcher Boughey and Matilda Evira Ottley; a family decended from King Edward III.

Commissioned Lieutenant from Gentleman Cadet with the Royal Engineers on 25 June 1862, serving during the Anglo-Bhutan War of 1865 and the Second Afghan War of 1878, employed in the Public Works Department in India from 18 Jan 1870 and marrying Harriet Rose Amy Stuart-Menteth, daughter of Colonel William Stuart-Menteth on 2 Apr 1872. Promoted to the rank of Captain on 17 Feb 1875 and Major on 25 June 1885, Boughey's C.S.I. was awarded on 21 Jan 1896 for his services as Railway Commissioner in India.
