Description

The name is unique to the rank of Lieutenant on all Medal Index Cards. Harry Stevens was born in Natal, South Africa on 9 July 1898 and later lived at Drakeland, Albaston, Gunnislake, Cornwall. He enlisted with the Umvoti Mounted Rifles on 15 Mar 1915 and transferred to the 6th Battalion, South African Infantry before being commissioned into the 4/4th King's African Rifles on 26 Aug 1917. Stevens was wounded at Kinjiri River on 17 Apr 1918 with a Gun Shot Wound to the left shoulder and Mentioned In Despatches on 31 Jan 1919.
