Description

Alfred Charles Farrah enlisted on 19 Jun 1915 with the 2/1st London Regiment and disembarked at Rouen on 2 Feb 1916. Farrah was Wounded In Action 1 July 1916, suffering a Gun Shot Wound to the left hand and a further wounding on 18 Aug 1916 and 8 Apr 1917, with his medical case sheet recording: "Patient states that he was wounded 8 Apr 1917 in left hand while near Arras. Taken to Clearing Station, given A.T.S., then to 14th General Hospital, Boulogne and on 11 Apr 1917. 2 joints of little finger left hand missing and ring finger shows jagged wound." This injury resulted in amputation, his transferral to the Army Service Corps on 10 Nov 1917 and his eventual discharge on 9 Apr 1920.
