** NEW ** WWI Death Plaque to Herbert Plant, accompanied by an original handwritten letter home dated 21.10.16 from the recipient and Buckingham Palace condolence slip.

Description

Herbert Plant was the son of Alfred and Barbara Plant of Eastern Green, Coventry, and served as Corporal with the Oxf. & Bucks. Light Infantry, posted to France on 22 July 1915 before being commissioned Second Lieutenant with the 15th Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Attached the the 14th Warwicks, Plant Died of Wounds on 20 Dec 1916 and is buried at Bethune Town Cemetery. Poignantly, Plant sent a letter home when with "D" Coy of the 14th Battalion, recording the desperate condition in the trenches andf the town itself being subject to the occassional 'Bosch shell.'
