Description

Ernest Dale was born in Stretford, Manchester in Nov 1893 and worked as a butcher before enlisting with the 22nd Battalion (7th City Pals) Manchester Regiment on 30 Nov 1914 and disembarking in France on 12 Nov 1915. On 13 July 1916, whilst part of C Coy., 10 Platoon, 22nd Manch. R., Dale suffered a Gun Shot Wound to the right arm whilst in action on The Somme. This wound resulted in him being declared no longer physically fit for service and discharged on 17 Mar 1917.
