** NEW ** Silver plate presentation tankard inscribed with 89 Squadron insignia 'Presented to Wing Commander D.H. Simmons, A.F.C. by the members of No.89 Squadron 1958.' Accompanied by four original photographs stamped Air Ministry and R.A.F. Coltishall to reverse.

Description

David Cecil Hugh Simmons was born on 11 Dec 1921 and appointed Pilot Officer on 14 Mar 1942, Flying Officer 2 Apr 1946 and Officer Commanding No.3 Squadron Dec 1953. His Air Force Cross was Gazetted 1 Jan 1954, before being promoted to Wing Commander on 1 Jul 1957 and appointed O.C. of Air Fighting Development Sqn. on 29 Dec 1959 & O.C. at RAF Wattisham 12 Mar 1962. Made Group Captain of Operations, HQ Fighter Command on 11 May 1964, Simmons was awarded the C.B.E. Gazetted 1 Jan 1967 and finally reached the rank of Air Commodore 1 Jul 1970 and SASO, HQ No 11 Group on 22 Nov 1971.
