Description

James McLay was born in Laurieston, Stirlingshire and served with the 1st Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders in India as a Lance Corporal and awarded the I.G.S. with North West Frontier clasp and Delhi Durbar 1911. Enlisting with the 1st Battalion Seaforth Highlanders on the outbreak of WWI at Bo'ness, Linlithgowshire, McLay disembarked on 12 Oct 1914 and died of wounds on 13 Apr 1915, commemorated at Le Touret Memorial.
