** NEW ** The U-Boat action H.M.S. Hesperus D.S.M. group, consisting of: Distinguished Service Medal George VI to A/P.O. E.A. Skinner, C/JX. 155865; 1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star with France & Germany clasp; Africa Star with North Africa 1942-43 clasp; Italy Star; WWII War Medal; Royal Fleet Reserve Long Service & Good Conduct EIIR to JX.155865 E.A. Skinner, D.S.M., Ch.B. 29483 P.O., R.F.R. Accompanied by Skinner's two original Admiralty D.S.M. Transmission Letters and original newspaper cutting which reads: "D.S.M. Award - Acting Petty Officer Edgar Arthur Skinner of Potters Bar, has been awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for distinguished service in H.M. destroyers. His ship was responsible for the sinking of a U-Boat on April 30th this year, and the probable destruction of another on May 8th, both in the North Sea.

Gazetted 11 Sep 1945 "For distinguished service in H.M. Ship Hesperus and Havelock in the destruction of a U-Boat on the 30 Apr 1945 and the probable destruction of another on the 8th May 1945, both in the North Sea." H.M.S. Skinner was aboard H.M.S. Hesperus, an H-Class Destroyer when she took part in the sinking of U-242 with sister destroyer H.M.S. Havelock and R.A.F. Sunderland aircraft R of 201 Squadron in the Irish Sea. There were no survivors.
