*** RESERVED *** Military Cross George V with reverse engraved Lt. Leonard A. F. Ireland, March 16th 1918 / Ypres 31st July 1917 in case of issue; 1914-15 Star to 58143 2/Cpl. L. A. F. Ireland, R.E.; WWI War & Victory Medals, with M.I.D. oak leaf to Capt. L.A.F. Ireland. Accompanied by a Royal Sussex Regiment locket containing portrait photograph, a gymnasium prize medal and two pips.
Description

M.C. Gazetted 1 January 1918. Leonard Archibald Ireland first served in France as a 2nd Corporal in the Royal Engineers from July 1915. He was then commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Sussex Regiment from March 1916,  awarded the Military Cross and further Mentioned in Despatches, Gazetted 4 January 1917.
