Description

Daily Herald London, 17 Jan 1955: "HE WAS ROBBED WHILE SAVING A DOG - Giving his overcoat to a stranger to hold, 28 year old Raymond Morley crawled along a thin branch over Highgate Ponds yesterday to rescue a dog marooned on an ice floe. After he brought the dog back, Mr Morley of Bickerton Road, Highgate North, found that £4 10s he had saved towards a gold watch for his wife had been stolen from his coat."

Shields Daily News 17 Jan 1955: "TO REPLACE STOLEN MONEY - The National Canine Defence League is to replace the sum of £4 10s stolen from the overcoat of 28 year old Raymond Morley, of Bickerton Road, Highgate, London, while he was rescuing a dog from an icy pond at Highgate yesterday."

The People 20 Mar 1955: "RAY GIVES HIS REWARD AWAY - Someone stole Raymond Morley's pay packet from his jacket which he left on the ground as he rescued a drowning dog from an icy pond. Now Raymond, of Holloway, London has received £25 from sympathisers who read about the theft. Yesterday, he decided to spend the money on dog licences for old age pensioners."
